Help Decorate the Shop:
Help me decorate the shop for Christmas this year and bring in a handmade fiber art ornament to hang in the shop. Anyone bringing in an ornament will get one 5% discount coupon. We will have an ornament exchange using these ornaments during our Thursday evening Christmas party on Thursday, December 17th. Mark the date! And bring in your ornament!
Santa Claus is Coming past the Shop:
The Whitby Santa Claus Parade has changed route this year and will be going right past the shop on December 5th this year. You are invited to bring your children or grandchildren to use the porch or the sidewalk out front to see Santa arrive. We will have cider and cookies and washrooms and a space to warm up if needed.
Christmas Designs and Gifts:
It isn't too later to start stitching those special little gifts for Christmas. If you are looking for a copy of Just Cross Stitch Christmas decorations we still have a few in the shop. Or if you are looking for a special treat for a stitching friend or relative, come on in, we have a great selection to choose from.
Hardanger Class was a success:
The Intermediate Hardanger class with Jo Gatenby was a success, building on the basics from the beginner Hardanger class. Check out the Hedgehog Stitchery blog for photos.
Jo will be back in the spring to teach more hardanger skills, and will be designing a cat, especially for the class. Would love it if you could join us. Details will be available in the new year.

February st, 2009
Happy Groundhog Day!With the snow blowing outside this year more than we have seen it for a long time (well, except for last year), it's a good time to be tucked up inside stitching. In anticipation of the end of winder Hedgehog Stitchery has some new spring designs. Come on in, the new designs are on the fabric table, so you won't have to go searching for them on the shelves.
Searching the shelves is pretty fun, though, so come on in and browse, there are lots of charts and kits that you may have missed your first time in, so it's always a good time to look for more. The web site now has only those designs that are in stock (unless they are just recently sold), so it's easy to see if we have something. If we don't have something you are looking for, just ask. We can usually get what you are looking for.
What's on my hoop? I daresay most of you are faster stitchers than I. I am still finishing off some Christmas stitching. Call it a head start on Christmas 2009! Then I will get back to the Birdhouse Bellpull from X's and Oh's.
February Feature Designer - The Stitching Studio
The Stitching Studio calls British Columbia their home. Check out the Hedgehog Stitchery home page for information and links to their web site. They have wonderful, stitchable renditions of beautiful Canadian art and can also create stitching charts for your photographs. They do a wonderful job!
Also featured in February, any design with a heart on it. So come on in and look for hearts.
10% off featured designs, 15% off with the coupon for Newsletter subscribers. See the link at the bottom of this page to become a subscriber.
We have a Beginner and Intermediate class scheduled for February 28th.
The March class is being planned. Cording and Surface Embroidery are being considered. Let me know if you have a preference. More information to come!

Embroidery Guild and "The Quilt"
The Trillium Embroidery Guild, a stitching guild that meets in the Durham region, is creating a quilt from pieces stitched by its members. This is in memory of a member who recently lost her battle against cancer and to honour all others that we know that have been touched by the disease. The quilt will be donated to the organization called "The Quilt" which auctions off the donated quilts and the funds raised go to cancer research and programs that support cancer survivors.
The guild meets at 7:30pm the 3rd Wednesday of each month September to June at the Whitby main library. New members are welcome. For more information, please contact Linda McAlear, 905- 683-5808.
